5 Ways To Naturally Lower High Blood Pressure

High blood pressure is known as the “silent killer” because it is a condition that usually does not exhibit any symptoms. However, over time, high blood pressure can put you at increased risk for heart attacks, heart failure, strokes, and kidney disease.

Other then taking high blood pressure medications prescribed by your healthcare provider, here are five ways you lower your blood pressure on your own:

1. Maintain a healthy weight. Lose weight if you are overweight.

2. Eat a healthy diet by increasing your intake of fruits and vegetables.

3. Reduce the amount of salt you eat.

4. Do something active for at least 30 minutes each day for at least 4-5 days a week.

5. Cut down on alcohol.

-Limit alcoholic drinks to less than 2 alcoholic drinks per day if you are male, and less than 1 alcoholic drink if you are female.


Lastly, it may be a good idea to get a blood pressure monitor and check your own blood pressure at home. By being aware of your blood pressure at home, you can take better charge of keeping your blood pressure low.
